The Restaurant Associates Right Picks™ Program helps you identify healthy food options. We understand that everyone's nutritional needs are different so we created a program to help you make your own personal healthy choices throughout the day. "Right Picks" selections highlight the best sources of lean protein, calcium, good fats, fiber, and antioxidants. A meal plan high in these nutrients provides a balanced diet resulting in overall wellness and disease prevention.

All Right Picks™ items are denoted on our menus with a gray check mark.

To further promote wellness, a registered dietician will visit the dining center to answer all of your questions about Right Picks™ and specific wellness needs.

F.A.Q.'s

Q. Are the Right Picks™ low carbohydrate selections nutritious?
A. Yes. The objective of Right Picks™ is to highlight the HEALTHIEST selections in the cafe therefore all of our low carbohydrate selections must be nutritious.


Q. Why is steak and red meat NOT included in the Right Picks™ database?
A. Steak and red meat are proteins that contain higher concentrations of saturated fat and cholesterol (typically more than 10% of the total calories from saturated fat) compared to proteins like chicken breast, fish and pork loin. The Right Picks™ program excludes proteins that contain more than 10% of total calories from saturated fat.


Q. Why is chicken with black bean salsa only listed as LP (lean protein) and LC (low carbohydrate) and not HF (high fiber)?
A. The Right Picks™ signage is designed to highlight the nutrients in the MAIN INGREDIENT. While beans are high in fiber, they only represent a small percentage of the overall ingredients in the dish. Ingredients to the right of the main selection (typically sauces or toppings) will not be included in the nutritional highlights with the exception of sandwiches that include the bread choice.


Q. How do we know if the ingredients in the sauces or toppings on the Right Picks™ selections fit the criteria of the Right Picks™ program since they are not the main ingredient?
A. Right Picks™ menu selections do not contain butter, margarine, cream, full fat cheese, lard, mayonnaise, full fat sour cream, palm oil, margarine or bacon.


Q. Why is the low carbohydrate (LC) icon NOT highlighted in the tofu on low carbohydrate (LC) wrap selection?
A. Because tofu (which is the main ingredient) is NOT a low carbohydrate food. Putting a food that is not a low carbohydrate on a low carbohydrate bread, does not make the overall item low carbohydrate.
