Food Service Transition FAQ’s

1. When did Restaurant Associates (RA) begin food service operations in the House?
• Facility transitions began December 8th
• December 17th in the Cannon, Capitol, Longworth and Rayburn
• Food service in the Ford began in September 2008

2. Were there any staffing changes?
• All union hourly associates that would have liked to be retained were hired by Restaurant Associates
• Restaurant Associates’ other personnel will include administrative, management and culinary staff.

3. What does Restaurant Associates (RA) offer as a food service provider?

• Food prepared from scratch
• Gourmet selections and value meals
• Seasonal and flavor-focused menu changes
• Local and sustainable foods
• An innovative healthy dining program
• Robust Quick Pick grab ‘n’ go service

4. What changes can I expect in food service facilities?
• All locations  –
  o Fair Trade coffee
  o Compostable disposable containers, utensils and cups
  o New recycling centers that include receptacles for organic waste
  o House made muffins
  o New vending machines with additional selections
• Rayburn Café – 
  o New weekly rotation on Chef’s corner to include Pasta, Stir Fry, Taqueria,  Caesar Salad and Seafood
  o Self serve breakfast bar
  o New soup, Quick Pick, dessert, and fountain beverage locations
  o Sushi bar available twice weekly
• Rayburn Deli –
  o Mediterranean flatbreads and pressed sandwiches
  o Hot Dogs/Sausages
  o New salad program
  o Frozen yogurt and toppings
• Longworth Café  –
  o New salad bar, soup and condiment stations
  o New food stations – International and Specialty Salads
o Relocation of coffee, fountain beverages and grill station
  o New breakfast layout
• The Creamery (formerly Scoops) –
  o Gifford’s Ice Cream – a local confectioner focused on seasonal and traditional favorites
  o “Hot out of the Oven” desserts
  o Fresh made smoothies and locally made candies
• Goodie’s (formerly Longworth Convenience Store) –
  o Complete make over
  o Improved customer flow
• Capitol Market –
  o American Regional selections (food selections from different regions of the country)
  o Rotating specialty station – BBQ, Noodle Bowl, Taqueria, Sushi, and Italian Specialties
  o Improved customer flow
• Cannon Café –
  o New sub sandwich program - selection of four cold and two hot subs
  o New locations for coffee and pastries
• Members’ Dining Room –
  o New menu selections
  o New buffet tables

5. Did prices increase?
  • Prices remained the same though might have been adjusted based on portion sizes, ingredients and preparation style.

6. How do I get a Quick Pay card?
•  Go to First Call+ B-227 Longworth

7. What are the benefits of Quick Pay?
• When making purchases with your Quick Pay card, you instantaneously get 10% of the purchase added to the card
• Faster service with Touch 'n' Go at check-out.
• Manage your account and add funds with cash, check, credit or debit cards  

8. How much will Quick Pay cost to use?
